Meeeeeeeme.
Jun. 27th, 2006 10:33 amSo I'm up because my body is like "Dude. It's 3:30pm. WAKE UP."
Of course, it's only 9:30am when my body says this. I have been awake for an hour. WTF.
So I am swiping a meme from
moireach.
Reply to this meme, and I'll pick one of your LJ interests. You tell me a whole bunch of stuff about it, and we all learn a bit more.
Go 'head and feel free to steal it.

That letter meme.
May. 5th, 2006 08:31 amComment on this entry and get a letter (if you're up to playing). Write ten words beginning with that letter, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why. (If you've done it before, let me know what letters you've already used.
I foolishly asked
moireach to give me one and she gave me E.
Elizabeth - my middle name and a name I like, in general. Also the name of way too many people I know.
ethernet - I've been perpetually online since I was 8 or 9 years old, but did not know, first-hand, the beauty of ethernet cables until I was about 22. I fell in love forever the day I connected my DSL modem to my computer's ethernet card for the very first time.
email - Somewhat related to the above, I've had SOME form of electronic mail available to me since I was 8 or 9, and I can't possibly imagine going without.
Erica Kane - I have watched All My Children on and off (mostly on) since I was six, back when my grandmother made me cover my eyes during certain scenes. Though Erica is not my favourite character and Susan Lucci is not my favourite actress... everyone knows Erica, and I do love that character, despite her great many flaws. :)
Egypt - When I was a kid, I loved all the Egyptian mythology regarding their gods. Seth, Osiris, Isis... fascinating. I attribute it to "The Egypt Game" by Zilpha Keatley Snyder.
emotions - I am an emotional person. I feel things deeply, good or bad, and am happy with that, for the most part. After all, how else will you know how good the good is without knowing how bad the bad is?
emoticons - how else do you get tone to come across through the screen? :)
Eliot - as in, T.S. Eliot, who wrote one my my all-time favourite poems, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Much love.
Ellegon - a dragon from Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series, which is one of my all-time favourite series of books.
English - seems silly to write it down, but in this crazy province of Quebec, where the French language is the official language, and is incredibly dominant, English deserves a place on the list of ten. I seem to spend my days trying to bend the English language to my will, to describe something just so... Whether it's the sun shining through my living room windows at (holy crap) 8:30am or whether it's how I feel about a certain situation, I'm always playing with the English language. I flirt with Italian and I have been seriously involved with French since I was born, but English, I think, is my true love.
Whew. Bed!

Put your music player on "random" and write down your favourite line from the first 25 songs to come up. Then let everyone on your friends list try to name them. Google is cheating.
Let me just say this in my defense -- I have 1247 songs and I don't listen to more than half of them on a regular basis. Many are albums friends have given me or I've burned for friends/family. Also, oh, the SHAME. (I'm excluding instrumentals.)

Feb. 17th, 2006 02:57 pmI'm a considerate visionary.
And my "DNA" strip looks like this:
I'm on spring break and will be watching the Canadian women take on the Finnish women in Olympic hockey. Winner goes against the Czechs in the gold medal match, loser goes against the USA in the bronze match.
GO CANADA. :D
(Honestly, I could really care less about any sport except hockey. This does not mean I'm not psyched that we have 2 golds, 4 silver and 3 bronzes, I think it stands at.)
And also, BREATHING SUCKS. Woke up twice last night coughing up a lung. Stupid #)%*@)#%*. GRR.

Memes a-plenty.
Dec. 20th, 2005 03:02 amIn honour of the paper I have due on Friday, here is an entry of memes.

My Italian exam went pretty okay, actually. I think I may have gotten in the mid-70s, which is okay. A little higher might bump me from a B- to a B, though. I got 8.6/10 for my oral presentation on Pisa, which is AMAZING. It's my best mark ever in Italian. Er, except for a test I got 89% on back last fall in Italian 201.
Basically, though, I didn't blank on any tenses as a whole and I managed to keep most tenses separate in my mind. Go me.
Friends entry to follow, but first, a meme.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
1. "Lodestar" by Sarah Harmer
2. "Brian Wilson" covered by the Brown Derbies
3. "Christmas Time is Here (instrumental)" by Vince Guaraldi Trio
4. "Never Been Hurt" by Sara Melson
5. "South of Me" by Weeping Tile
6. "The Freshmen" by The Verve Pipe
7. "Where is my Mind" by The Pixies
And I shall tag...
trexphile,
moireach,
spykate,
seanpaune,
hambam,
jessruth and
goldfishdreams.
And also, if you have not yet played this game, prepare to sink hours into it. Addictive little beast. And I take no responsibility if you get fired for having played instead of worked.

The Apprentice, 4x13.
Dec. 10th, 2005 01:57 pmThis is really the first season I've really watched most of The Apprentice. I like the tasks, primarily, and I like following a couple of people as far as they go, which is usually not all that far.
( Spoilers for 4x13 and the previews for next week. )
I cannot WAIT to see next week's episode!
Meanwhile,
seanpaune tagged me for this...
Ground Rules:
The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yours" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.
( Meme/game thingy. )

I went to bed before midnight and woke up shortly before 9am.
Seriously, the world is ending.
I awoke to the first real snowstorm of the season. On the plus side, SKIING eventually. On the negative side, commuting will suck.
And now a meme, before I go write for half the day.

Hm. I'm going to redo the Ten Fictional Characters That You Would Sleep With meme.
1) Maggie Stone (AMC)
2) Tara Maclay (BtVS)
3) Willow Rosenberg (BtVS)
4) Gabrielle of Poteidaia (Xena)
5) Lois Lane (either Teri Hatcher or Erica Durance, but TH is preferred)
6) Clark Kent (just Dean Cain)
7) Sawyer (Lost)
8) Piper Halliwell (Charmed)
9) Jadzia Dax (DS9)
10) Jamie Martin (AMC)
Six of them stayed the same, four new faces. Kinda neat.
And I should SO be doing my hair right now for the pumpkin-carving extravaganza.

If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
I have 114 interests. Lucky you! ;)
( Because 12 explanations of interests may bore you to tears. Or beyond. )
