Late night thoughts.
Jul. 4th, 2008 03:45 amSummer nights remind me of love.
Sometimes, the noise the wind makes as it rustles the leaves in the trees brings me back in time to sitting in a park, eyes closed, listening to the trees sway in the breeze, waiting for a Shakespearean play to start up.
Sometimes, the scent of rain in the air brings me back to a disgustingly warm night, where we ran outside in order to get poured on when it finally started to rain.
Sometimes, the taste of the night on my tongue brings me back to sitting on my windowsill, scribbling furiously in my treasured notebook about a woman sleeping in the guest room.
Sometimes, the stars pepper the sky so brightly that I feel like I'm back on a beach, hearing the rush of the waves as they lap delicately at the shore; the smell of salt invading my senses.
Sometimes, the night descends upon me just so, with the noises, scents, tastes, sights and I almost, almost expect to wake up in a pair of familiar arms the next morning.
---
Happy belated Canada Day, my fellow Canadians, and happy fourth of July to the Americans.
