Marina Sirtis was on Grey's Anatomy tonight.

Here's the catch: I did NOT recognize her.

I was like "oh, who's this older woman in the hospital and what's her story?" and then...

Then she spoke.

And I was like "Huh. I know this voice." It just annoyed the hell out of me that I knew the voice because I just couldn't place it, but it was so damn familiar...

So I was looking at her and listening to her talk and then it CLICKED.

THAT WAS FREAKING DEANNA TROI.

/FACEPALM

She was looking old. I mean, I know. TNG was on 20 years ago. But holy shit, I should not have to rely on the woman's voice (with a foreign accent, no less -- not British, not Troi-esque, but something along those lines) to recognize Marina Sirtis. I'm fairly sure I'd recognize any of the other cast members without having to rely on their voices.

Crazy.

/sigh

Possibly the 78 billionth time I've seen TNG's Attached... and the 78 billionth time I've wondered to myself "DAMN, but that skirt Bev is wearing is fugly!".

It was hilarious, watching Attached again for the first time in a couple of years. Still could recite bits. Still chuckled at bits. Still sighed at bits. Still want to smack Beverly for freaking at the end, of course. But it was nice to watch it again. :)

OMG.

Just saw Ro Laren and Geordi LaForge on the transporter pad at the start of a TNG episode and I grinned hugely.

The Next Phase is right up there with Cause and Effect for my favourite episodes. I <3 Season 5.

(ETA: Ro has great legs.)

Wow.

I'm a super geek.

TNG runs on our Space channel every day at noon, 6pm and 3am. I generally catch the ep they're running at least once a day, even if it's just background noise.

So I just flipped to Space and saw the bridge was dark, and Riker was shouting something, and then I heard Beverly say "Casualty reports coming in from all over the ship!" and I was like "OMG IT'S CAUSE AND EFFECT!!!!!!"

Which is, you know, one of my favourite episodes of TNG ever.

I don't suppose I have to have a spoiler cut for a show whose run ended nearly 14 years ago, right? :)

According to Wikipedia, that episode first aired March 23, 1992, which means it aired in syndication for me on March 28th, a Saturday night. I remember the night so well. I was downstairs in the basement at my parents' house and was watching the teaser and the teaser ended with the Enterprise blowing up.

Then, the dreaded words:

"Time for dinner!"

I raced upstairs. "Oh my God, Mom, Dad, the ... okay, you know how I watch Star Trek, right? Well the ship, the Enterprise, just blew up! Can I PLEASE eat dinner downstairs? PLEASE? I have to find out what happens!!!"

They kind of chuckled and let me have dinner downstairs. I ran up during each commercial break to let them know what was happening, as if they actually cared, but they totally indulged me. I was so excited and involved in the show by this point. Oh, if I only knew how much more involved I would get. ;)

Anyways, it's one of the only episodes of TNG I remember seeing during the original run of the show, and it's a delightful memory.

Thought I'd share. :)

Woo.

Theatre class is done. Remind me never to be on a stage ever again, okay? My hands actually shook.

I have to be at school in 17 hours to hand in the 8-10 page paper I have yet to actually begin. I have slept for 2.5 hours since 11am on Sunday morning. There's math in there, somewhere, I'm sure, that proves I've been up for a long ass time. I don't think I cold actually count that much right now.

I'd like to ask you all why it is I am capable of remembering lines from sitcoms and dramas and sci-fi shows that are 10-25 years old, but I was still unable to remember a full quarter of my lines tonight. Honestly, I was on the phone on my way home from school tonight and said something about my not having a glimmer of independent thought (alas, the TNG reference was wasted on someone who doesn't even know who Gates McFadden is...). How is it I can remember Riker's lines in Beverly's play from a 6th season TNG episode, but I couldn't remember some nonsense about some dude getting transferred to the capital of wherever the hell our play was based? I think I lose geek points and gain RL points for not remembering the name of the ep, though. It's somewhere in my brain, I think, and I do remember hating Riker's hair throughout it and wishing there was more Bev in it. It may bother me, but I am too stubborn to look it up, since I KNOW it's in there SOMEWHERE.

I think I miss TNG. Hm.

Okay. Food, then maybe, maybe a 2-3 hour nap, then working until 2:30pm, then taking a cab to drop off the paper.
