1. Choose five of your all-time favorite books.
2. Take the first sentence of the first chapter and make a list in your journal.
3. Don't reveal the author or the title of the book.
4. Now everyone try and guess.
1) Clare: The library is cool and smells like carpet cleaner, although all I can see is marble. (The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger. Guessed by
erbie.)
2) Karl Cullinane reached out his fork and speared the last stick of asparagus from the stainless-steel serving plate in the middle of the table, not bothering to set the asparagus on his own plate before taking a bite. (The Sleeping Dragon, by Joel Rosenberg. Guessed by
drsnicket.)
3) Why is the measure of love loss? (Written on the Body, by Jeanette Winterson. Guessed by
shiningmoon.)
4) A change of seasons was upon the Four Lands as late summer faded slowly into autumn. (The Wishsong of Shannara, by Terry Brooks. Guessed by
drsnicket.)
5) Robert Langdon awoke slowly. (The DaVinci Code, by Dan Brown. Guessed by
shiningmoon.)

That is quite the eclectic collection of books. One of them is a giveaway, one of them is pretty obscure, two of them are fantasy books and the remaining one can be figured out with a little thought. :) (While I have a billion favourites, these ones came to mind first.)
Edit: You know, I occasionally forget that my username is brinshannara and that Brin is from The Wishsong of Shannara. That was pretty frickin' obvious. Go me. ;) (Thanks to
slammerkinbabe for pointing this out. ;))
