Hoo, boy.

So, there I was, maybe a week or so ago. I was showering. And I stepped mostly out of the spray, towards the end of the tub, to reach my shampoo or some such thing. And I felt the tub's floor actually GIVE beneath my foot.

I chalked it up to some sort of air bubble or something, and didn't freak out because it was gone the next morning when I pushed against the tub with my hand.

Thursday (?) morningish, perhaps Wednesday, my bath mat next to my shower/tub was damp. "What the hell?" I thought, "I showered like, 10 hours ago!" So I hung the mat up to dry on the edge of the tub and put a towel down to ensure it was all dry. It stayed dry. Until that evening. It was definitely damp. Again, "What the hell?"

I looked up, nothing there. The tub hadn't been used, and I couldn't find a leak there. The toilet was dry as anything.

I couldn't find the source.

Until tonight, when the dampness turned into actual wetness. A towel I'd left there got *wet*. Like, very wet. And then, I realized that the hot water heater is right on the other side of the wall.

I have very bad luck with hot water heaters. We'll leave it at that.

Anyways, I emptied most of my closet and removed the access panel and realized I am a fool, because I have no flashlight. So I lit a candle and looked around the little cubbyhole-like space where the thing is, and I couldn't tell if anything was wrong or not. About the only thing I could determine was that if there WAS a leak, it was right at the same place the water would be coming from -- like, right through the wall. And possibly under the tub. What if the squishing of that air bubble I felt wasn't the rubber mat on the floor of my bathtub? What if that was water that had seeped under my bathtub?

So it's nearly six in the morning and I am going to spend the next couple of hours cleaning up my kitchen and living room and bathroom, so that when I phone the super at 10am, she'll be able to come up and see what the deal is.

I hope that, whatever the issue is, it's taken care of quickly. I have a poetry paper due Monday. I have visions of them tearing up my bathroom floor. :/

At least it's a slow leak and there's no water, like, burbling through cracks in the wall or anything...

New colour scheme for my LJ. I think it's nice. (link)

In this entry, I asked y'all to pick my favourite characters. Alas, no one guessed my favourites on Desperate Housewives or Las Vegas.

DH - Susan. Yes, part of it is because she's played by Teri Hatcher, but most of it is that she is every woman. She is insecure and she overanalyzes and she struggles to do the right thing. She's been torn down and spent a long time rebuilding herself. She's strong. I like her for that.

Las Vegas - Sam. This was a tough choice, actually. I love the whole cast. Sam is like... the anti-damsel-in-distress. She can take care of herself. Most of the time. And when she can't, she tries so hard to maintain her distance that it's just heartbreaking.

I have a thing for broken women, it seems, or women who are trying to be unbroken. Odd.

That said, [livejournal.com profile] literaryradical totally cheated by guessing the easy ones (Buffy, TNG, DS9) but still shall get a cookie from me if we're ever in the same area code, for getting the most right.

Meh. I should really go clean my kitchen.

But first, a poll.

[Poll #471259]

(I know. I am the most entertaining person IN TEH WORLD!!1!11!)

So the superintendent came up around 1:30ish to take a look at my floor.

She checked the sink, checked the toilet, saw the bath was dry...

... and chalked up the water soaking a towel of mine to water FROM MY LAST SHOWER.

Insert eye-roll here.

She suggested I remove the towel and let her know if more water appears.

So she left, and I napped.

When I woke up, there was water spread out over my bathroom floor, again, from where the outside edge of the bathtub intersects the wall. So I called the superintendent again and she said she'd go check upstairs and then come back to my place.

In the end, we looked at the water heater, but didn't see anything. She said the plumber would be called on Monday and I told her I would only be around until 2:30ish or so (poetry paper must be handed in) and then she gave me two big sheets (like to use to cover furniture and stuff while painting) to use until Monday. She said I could take them when they're all wet down to the laundry room and leave them there, and then she'd take care of them.

Whatever it is, it's a slow leak, and I'm not all that concerned, although it is more than a little annoying.

And I have a headache. :/
