I'm a super geek.
TNG runs on our Space channel every day at noon, 6pm and 3am. I generally catch the ep they're running at least once a day, even if it's just background noise.
So I just flipped to Space and saw the bridge was dark, and Riker was shouting something, and then I heard Beverly say "Casualty reports coming in from all over the ship!" and I was like "OMG IT'S CAUSE AND EFFECT!!!!!!"
Which is, you know, one of my favourite episodes of TNG ever.
I don't suppose I have to have a spoiler cut for a show whose run ended nearly 14 years ago, right? :)
According to Wikipedia, that episode first aired March 23, 1992, which means it aired in syndication for me on March 28th, a Saturday night. I remember the night so well. I was downstairs in the basement at my parents' house and was watching the teaser and the teaser ended with the Enterprise blowing up.
Then, the dreaded words:
"Time for dinner!"
I raced upstairs. "Oh my God, Mom, Dad, the ... okay, you know how I watch Star Trek, right? Well the ship, the Enterprise, just blew up! Can I PLEASE eat dinner downstairs? PLEASE? I have to find out what happens!!!"
They kind of chuckled and let me have dinner downstairs. I ran up during each commercial break to let them know what was happening, as if they actually cared, but they totally indulged me. I was so excited and involved in the show by this point. Oh, if I only knew how much more involved I would get. ;)
Anyways, it's one of the only episodes of TNG I remember seeing during the original run of the show, and it's a delightful memory.
Thought I'd share. :)

Date: 2008-03-29 09:47 am (UTC)I was 14 years and 10 months. ... wait a minute. I posted the story 16 years to the day after I first saw the episode?? Well, that's pretty damn cool. :)
And that is definitely Disaster, yeah. :) I always liked that one, too, or anything that showed them doing something out of the ordinary.
