Talking for hours with an old friend is totally worth the slight panic over my poetry paper which is due in 10 hours.

Completely out of context quotes from the evening:

Her: "You're like J. Lo!" / "You have more 'true loves' than I have digits!" / "Hell, I was your 'true love' for a couple months, and we hadn't even kissed!" / "Not to be rude, but go home." / "You know what I say to him? 'Duncan, Duncan, it's blowjob season!'" / "It's not a slumber party!" / "Star Trek ended in 1994?!"

Me: "The girls are so butchy they make you look feminine. I mean, er, really feminine. Uh. Even with your short hair, which is considered masculine and butchy and... right, shutting up. But you get what I mean, right?!" / Me: "Insert a fairly profane word here." Her: "Fucker." Me: "EXACTLY." / "I wish I had MY pajamas here." / Me: "Is that the [stepson] who everyone thinks is gay?" Her: "Yes. But he still hasn't clued in, yet."

I honestly didn't say much that was funny. I think I was too busy laughing.

The best part:

Her, shoving her cell phone at me: "Oh, quick! Quick! What does this look like?!?!"
Me, looking at it: "A Star Trek communicator?"
Her: "THANK YOU. You are the ONLY PERSON in EIGHT MONTHS who's gotten that!"

(Seriously, it's a flip-phone that honestly looks like Kirk could have used it, only it's a little wider and not black/gold. But it flips JUST LIKE the old communicators!)

The funniest part of the evening:

I got out of class early and called the hotel to ensure she was there. She wasn't, but I figured I'd head over anyways. Called her room from there, still no answer. The front desk guy asks if I want to leave a message and I say, nah, but could I sit and wait for my friend? Sure, he says, and answers the ringing phone.

I sit down, pull out a binder and all of a sudden, the guy at the desk calls out my name. Which I hadn't given him.

"... yes?" My eyebrow was raised.

"She says you can go up, now."

"Uh. Okay."

She'd been on her cell with her boss and couldn't get to the room phone without it looking vaguely bad. ;) Anyways, that amused me.

Got home around 10, talked on the phone, watched Lost, talked on the phone more, watched Alias (wasn't too impressed with either!) and then started to actually work around, oh, 2. It's 5 now. I have a paragraph and a half.

Back to the paper of doom.
