Snagged from a couple friends, most recently
mtgat.
Do you believe...
In God? -- Yes.
In ghosts? -- I've never seen one, and I never need to see one, but many people I know and trust swear up and down that they've seen them. So... yes, I guess.
In aliens? -- To paraphrase Hobbes: "Sometimes I think the surest sign of extraterrestial intelligence is that they haven't contacted us yet."
In Bigfoot? -- Eh, not really.
In fairies? -- Nah.
In ESP? -- I believe that some people have a gift for knowing things they can't really otherwise know, or for "transmitting" their thoughts much more strongly than some others. So, yeah, I guess.
In equal rights for gays? -- Uh, yes, please.
In equal rights for women? -- ditto.
In psychics? -- I'm sure there are some psychic people out there. Whether Miss Cleo et al. are legit is anyone's guess.
In auras? -- I don't see auras, but I do believe in the body's energy. So, kind of.
In true love? -- I do. I don't believe it's easy, and I don't believe it's something we'll all get to experience.
In happy endings? -- I find I'm getting more cynical on this, as I get older.
In abortions? -- I don't like abortion, and I probably could never get one myself, but I believe in safe, responsible and legal abortion for those women who choose to do so.
In Santa? -- I did, for many years. And some Christmas Eves, even now, I find myself staring out the window, looking for a sleigh. I kid you not.
In soulmates? -- I do. I don't believe you're limited to one soulmate, nor do I believe you have to be in love with said soulmate(s).
In magic? -- Possibly.
In evolution? -- Guided evolution, yes.
In cloning? -- Cloning kind of creeps me out. Genetic research, though? Go for it.
In werewolves? -- Nope.
In vampires? -- No, despite the fact I desperately wanted to BE a vampire, around the age of nine. (I was a weird kid.)
In miracles? -- Absolutely. I've witnessed a couple of minor ones.
In Nessie? -- I don't CARE if she's been disproved, I believe in the Loch Ness Monster, dammit! Pfft, log my ass. She's a plesiosaur. Hmph.
In interracial marriages? -- Yes. It still boggles me that there are people who don't.
In saving the rainforests? -- Of course.
In saving dying species? -- Yep.
In recycling? -- Yes, but I don't do it as often as I should at home (our recycling here is poorly planned).
In plastic surgery? -- Not for me, thanks, but I don't have a problem with it if it's for burn victims or others who medically require it.
In animal rights? -- I don't think my parents' dog has a right to shit on the carpet whenever she wants, but I believe she has a right not to be abused.
We should all become vegetarians? -- I like meat too much. Sorry, that's a no.
