brinshannara: (lost time)
It's been a weird day.

I woke up over 25 hours ago, after sleeping for a mere two and a half. I studied. I learned stuff. (Some stuff that was apparently wrong, according to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] shiningmoon, but it didn't matter, 'cause that wasn't on the exam. Hee.)

I got to school, and reviewed my notes on my laptop for about 20 minutes, and it's a damn good thing I reviewed what atavism is, because there was a short-answer question about it on the exam.

Social Deviance was, as I expected, the easier of the two. I did not do well on the Quebec Society exam. I don't think I failed, but I really, really didn't ace it or nail it in any way, shape or form. Grr. My hand was so dead after all that writing, too. Bleh.

I checked my messages before I left school, and my brother had called, so I called him back and we chatted for a bit. I said I was going to go home and sleep. He said he was going to the airport to pick up our dad.

Rather than wait for the bus, I wound up hanging with the bro at the airport, waiting for our dad. Actually, the flight was half an hour delayed, so we hung out at the gas station, eating chips that we'd bought and listening to music by The Colouring Season that has entirely ripped off Weezer and Wilco and others. It's amusing.

We finally got dad and I got dropped off, and my soap was still on, so I watched it, only to discover that All My Children spoiler, like anyone cares ) and now I don't know where my shippy storyline is going to go.

I crashed just after two and slept all the way to 8:15 at night, although I had a really fucked up dream that involved Tru Calling and Eliza Dushku, and in the dream, I was in bed, on my right side, with my right hand sort of on my left shoulder. And I heard a gun cocking. And it was Eliza, aiming a frickin' shotgun at me! (Doubtlessly, this is because I had misled her in order to gain her trust, somehow. Much like she does as Tru on the show.) And I woke up after realizing she was actually going to shoot me. But as I woke up in the dark, disoriented, I was absolutely panicked that there was actually someone in my bedroom, pointing a gun at me, and I was in the exact same position I'd been in, in the dream.

Very odd way to wake up.

Naturally, I'm wide awake now, at nearly four, and I have familial obligations tomorrow. Seems one of my Toronto cousins is in town with some of her friends. Technically, she's my first cousin, twice removed. I think. Her grandmother is my dad's first cousin. She's 18 (yes, my dad's cousin married young), and she's a cutie. My brother wants to take her out to a good club tomorrow night or something, because he was horrified that she was going to some crappy club tonight. So, not sure what's going on tomorrow, but it's something familial, at any rate, and I should get free food out of it. ;)

I live in a building in which I am the youngest tenant by at LEAST a good 15-20 years.

One of my neighbours across the hall is 94.

My grandmother, who lives two floors up, is 85.

This actually means that people are pretty quiet, and also tolerant of any noise I make, because they're half-deaf.

It also means, however, that every couple of months, an ambulance pulls up outside the building. Like right now, for example. Kind of worrisome.

My cousin is actually my second cousin, once removed, not first cousin, twice removed.

My brain seems to be functioning slightly better after another seven hours of sleep.

I should be picked up in the next half an hour or so for dinner with mom, dad, the brother, my dad's mom and the cousin, so I suppose I should get dressed, really. Although these are snazzy PJ bottoms, they won't keep me warm outside. ;)

Ooh. I should totally bring my camera... which still has all the Christmas pictures on it. Why on earth did I not empty the memory stick two months ago when I downloaded the pics to my computer?

Because I am a dumbass, apparently.

The snippets-from-nearest-things-to you meme, swiped from [livejournal.com profile] jess79.

Nearest book to you: "The rise of natural science, particularly the biological sciences, provided a new model of explanation for deviance theorists that seemed better able than the classical model to account for all kinds of behaviour, including behaviour that did not seem to be rational or chosen. The biological positivist approach denied free will and saw human beings as puppets whose strings were pulled by the bodies they inhabited." -- Deviance and Social Control, 3rd Edition

Nearest cd insert: "And by the way, to answer one of the most comon questions I get, the protagonist is still with the same woman -- it's the new tenants of his old place that he's intruded upon." -- re: The Old Apartment, in the insert for Disc One, by Barenaked Ladies. (idly, my cousin's friend's cottage is the one right next door to Ed's. My cousin has met Ed. Several times. Insert squeeing here.)

Nearest piece of paper that you wrote on: "Veeren Afek, S9W7 -> excellent +0, 17, S9W14 -> formidable, 17, S10W8 -> outstanding, 18." (Hattrick stuff.)

Nearest piece that was written to you: "Happy Valentine's Day! Love ya, miss ya, Maman and Dad, xxxx". (Self-explanatory, I think.)

Something on your desk: "1,66 2/3 $ 2003, 6 pour 10,00$, Société de transport de Montréal" (an old bus ticket from 2003.)
