Best start to a National Novel Writing Month ever. 5204 words at 7:40am on Day 2. That's Day 3's total wordcount and then some. I'm like, 40 hours ahead!
I'm not quite sure where my plot is, but I'm not altogether concerned, because the last time I *won* NaNo, I didn't find my plot until the 12,000 word mark. And it's a halfway decent story!
I don't know how far I'll get in NaNo this year. School + WoW + WoW expansion = very little time for "fun". And even though I'm ahead of the game now, I know week 2 will be hellacious and week 4 will be a weary trudge, with week 3 being partly hellacious, partly inspired by the divine and partly weary trudging. Still, it's fun and I'm already 1000 words ahead of my entire effort from last year.
I haven't had a GOOD NaNo attempt since 2005, and that was only 18k. The year before that was 30k and the year before that was 50k.
I think I'll be happy if I hit 20k, but I'm actually going to aim for 25-30, life depending. :)
I wasn't originally going to even do NaNo this year. But... it's NaNo. And it's November. And what is November without NaNo?
Thus, I think it's fair to say that I will sleep in December -- this was my mantra all throughout 2003 and 2004, when I actually had good attempts.
5204. Here's to a good start.
