As I write this, I'm still on the fence about what book to recommend. I've been deliberating for days. Do I recommend my most recent read? How about my upcoming read? Something I read last year? Something I read ten years ago? Twenty years ago? Do I recommend a part of a series? Do I recommend a standalone? A collection of short stories? An epic tome?

Ten minutes of staring at a mostly blank Semagic window tells me nothing, so I'll just recommend a bunch.

My latest read: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Amazing look at "opportunity" and it's a great sociological view of what our society views as luck, chance and opportunity. Very accessible, easy read that will leave you pondering what you might have missed out on or what you may still be able to take advantage of. Here's a clip on YouTube with Gladwell chatting with Anderson Cooper on Anderson Cooper 360. (I still think Anderson should host The Mole. But anyways.)

A book that's stuck with me: Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less by Jeffrey Archer. This is not amazing storytelling. This is not amazing writing. This is just a story that's stuck with me through the years and really continues to amuse me. Just a fun paperback, normal fiction, about people being swindled and people getting their money back through interesting methods.

A book that made a huge impact on me: The Wishsong of Shannara by Terry Brooks. A fantasy book, set in Brooks' Shannara universe. Not part of a series, exactly, but fits in with The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara and should be read if you read the four books of The Heritage of Shannara.

A series that I can read over and over again: The Guardians of the Flame by Joel Rosenberg. You start with The Sleeping Dragon, The Sword and the Chain, The Silver Crown and The Heir Apparent and it goes on from there. I've read The Sleeping Dragon easily 20-25 times by now. It's a fantasy series that starts off set in our own universe, following a group of D&D playing college students.

One of the best reads I've had in the last ten years: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffeneggar. I haven't seen the movie. I don't think I will. Because I do not want this book ruined for me. The book is just superb and I couldn't put it down when I read it.

God, if I thought today was tough, tomorrow's going to be impossible. A site? *A* site? Look for several. :P
