Lost thoughts, spoilers ahead.
Uh.
Let's see if I've got this straight.
Sayid crashes on the island in 2004.
Sayid gets off the island in late December of 2004 or early January of 2005.
Sayid spends 3 years in which he marries Nadia, kills a ton of people and then gets taken in by a bounty hunter who's to take him to Guam. (Presumably on Ben's orders, even if Ben is using a pseudonym, to ensure Sayid is on the plane everyone else is on.)
Sayid winds up back on the island in the year 1977 (best year EVER, 'cause, you know, I was born). He ends up going back with Hurley, Jack and Kate, while, for some reason, Sun and Ben and Frank are still in 2007/2008.
Sawyer, Jin, Juliet, Daniel and... dude who talks to dead people whose name escapes me at the moment have been in the Dharma Initiative for three years at this point, from 1974-1977.
Ben Linus is approximately, what, 12? 13?
Sayid escapes Dharma custody with Ben's help.
Sayid kills Ben, aged 12/13. Or does he? Is it just a chest wound?
What, then, does this do to Ben who is on the island in 2007/2008 with Sun and Frank and the other plane crash survivors? Was Sayid there, 30 years ago, from Current!Ben's perspective? The first time around? If so, he didn't kill young Ben because Ben grew up.
But Sayid is not necessarily a new element to the story because Charlotte remembered Daniel from when she was a kid on the island.
My head basically exploded and the only reason I'm able to even say this much is because I'm in so much shock that the emotions haven't hit me yet.

Date: 2009-03-26 05:34 pm (UTC)In Sarah Connor Chronicles, they explain that stuff by having different timelines. Jesse in 2009 is from a different timeline than Derek in 2009, and even though they both had each other in the future, they had different experiences. In Jesse's timeline, Derek was captured and tortured. In his, he wasn't.
Dude who talks to dead people = Miles
Date: 2009-03-30 04:33 am (UTC)I think child!Ben's dead, because Sayid is a professional, and he knows what he's doing. That was a shot to the heart if ever I saw one.
Just though... buh.
And where is Daniel?!?
Re: Dude who talks to dead people = Miles
Date: 2009-03-30 06:01 am (UTC)I saw it coming, too, but didn't think they'd actually, you know, do it. I thought for sure there'd be some kind of bait and switch or cop-out.
You're right about Sayid being a professional. I forgot, odd as that may sound.
I have NO idea where Daniel is, but I'd kind of like to find out, myself. Didn't Sawyer say something about him taking off (?) or something two episodes ago? I'm not sure. According to Wikipedia's entry on Daniel:
"After the arrival of Jack, Kate, and Hurley in 1977, Sawyer is queried by the survivors as to whether Faraday is with the DHARMA Initiative as well. "Not anymore," says Sawyer. At an undetermined point in time, Faraday is shown to be present at the construction of DHARMA's Orchid station."
