Better late than never? :)
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I honestly don't have a clue.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't make any. Haven't made any for this coming year, either.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope, but my best friend is pregnant. :)
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully not this year.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. But I did get my passport renewed.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A crush. Even on someone unattainable. Just... not having a crush is maddening. WHERE ARE ALL THE INTERESTING PEOPLE?!
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I may just have gone a year without a single date standing out for any reason whatsoever. Looks like THAT is the answer to #1. Go me?
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I achieved very little. I'd have to say getting a job, even if it's part-time and doesn't really even SEEM like a job.
9. What was your biggest failure?
School, maybe. I can't find motivation anymore.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Again, nothing serious, but damn, I totally had the plague on Christmas.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My external hard drive, I guess.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Does anyone's? I can't really think of anyone. Maybe CB? Oh, wait, anyone who voted for Obama.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Maybe my brother. He's been mean this year. Moreso than is usual. Anyone who voted for Prop 8. ABC/Grey's Anatomy/All My Children writers/producers.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, tuition. Possibly St-Hubert. :D
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
... second year running, the WoW expansion. Hooray for nerdiness!
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
I don't listen to trendy pop music. As such, probably Bach's Cello Suite #1, because I listened to that a lot this last month. I'm not even particularly a fan of the cello, but wow, it's so beautiful.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Happier. Hard not to be happier compared to last year.
II. Thinner or fatter?
Fatter? I don't know, it's hard to tell. I lost weight last year and then gained some this year, but I've just been ill and so my pants are totally not fitting me anymore. As in, they're falling down without a belt.
III. Richer or poorer?
For the first year in far too many years, richer. Honestly, I totally forget that I get paid until my cheque arrives and then it's like wow, US funds, that's another 15-20 cents per dollar. SWEET!
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Studying, sleeping, writing. Taking photos. Talking to the people I care about.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastination!
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it almost identically to many other Christmases. I spent it with my family, in my parents' house, from Christmas Eve until Christmas Day night. I was, as was my habit in the 80s and part of the 90s, sick as a dog. So there's some familiarity with that. It was definitely hard to be there without my Nana again.
21 seems to be missing...
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
No. I didn't even CRUSH. I mean, HELLO WORLD, WHERE ARE THE INTERESTING FOLKS?
23. How many one night stands?
Heh. None.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory (just catching on to this and it is HILARIOUS! Klingon boggle FTW!). The Office is boring me more often than not.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Still attempting not to hate the entire universe on the basis of their stupidity. I still fail most days, but no, I don't hate anyone in particular.
26. What was the best book you read?
I re-read the Mallorean this year and got a great deal of joy out of it.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
theradio.com -- GenX Rock. I would marry it if I could. There was Lump followed by Counting Crows followed by Black Velvet and then Sex and Candy. I was just like "... i love you?"
28. What did you want and get?
A new laptop. Well, I wanted a new computer, period. A laptop fits the bill. :)
29. What did you want and not get?
ANY KIND OF INTERESTING WOMAN IN MY LIFE. Well, the romantic kind of being in my life.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Shoot, I don't even remember what came out this year. I really did enjoy The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which I saw the other night with JB. Oh, and WALL-E was phenomenal. I am currently boycotting all things ABC, however, so I won't be getting that on DVD anytime soon.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Heh. I was 31. What on earth DID I do? I need to start LJing more, because I forget what I did. It was a Wednesday. I don't know what I did. I do know that I hung out with SY on the 9th... I probably had dinner with the family somewhere in there.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A MUSE. Stupid lack of brilliant, funny, kind, beautiful women!
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Jeany, as in most years past.
34. What kept you sane?
I decline to answer the question on the basis of self-incrimination. Also, I don't think I WAS kept altogether sane. ;)
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Even more love for Tina Fey.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Geez. Well, the US election -- way to go Obama, die in a fire if you voted for Prop 8. Stephen Harper pro-rogueing Parliament and Michaelle Jean NOT giving the NDP/Liberal alliance a shot to run the country.
37. Who did you miss?
The usual suspects:
drsnicket, MG, PF.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
She wasn't new, she's a re-run, but she was one of my dearest friends in Grade 6-8. I got back in touch with ASP. :)
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
There is, on occasion, reason to believe in karma and universal justice. For example, the doctor who misdiagnosed my Nana's broken hip, the one who made her walk on it despite her pain, the one who didn't X-ray her hip again for TEN DAYS, which is, in my mind, entirely to blame for her death... wound up having a massive heart attack and a quadruple bypass.
My Nana wasn't a mean woman, but I can't help but think she smiled. And I might be a bad person, but I sure as hell smiled.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I got nothin'.
