Ironically? I think letting the countdown run down would have been the leap of faith.

Dude, I must rewatch this. I'll be able to do so, er, shortly. :) And then will be posting at the comm. But I will DEFINITELY be watching out for CSM!

And you know what, I think you're right about the countdown.

I got increasingly scared as to what would happen if they didn't press the button, and to not press it, or to press it with the WRONG numbers, as Hurley was going to let them do, really freaked me out.

I am SO someone who would be sitting there for 16 years pushing the button every 108 minutes without fail. Because I am lame like that. ;)

i was thinking, that's pressing the button once every less than 2 hours. i'd probably make a leap to saying when the code isn't entered is when the monster appears, but desmond seems so passionate about it that i believe that he hasn't missed a single time in 3+ years.

This episode made me really dislike Jack, although, he was smart to question the whole countdown thing. It doesn't make me like him more, though.
