Things that make you go "What the FUCK?"

I got myself a glass of water and a glass of juice (I was thirsty), and was heading out of the kitchen. As both hands were full, I used my right hand to hit the switch to turn off the lights in the kitchen.
My glass fell.
Not only did my water (thankfully, it was water) spill all over the floor, my feet and my table with a governmental piece of paper on it, but I think water seeped into my phone jack. Maybe.
As I was cleaning up, my brother called. And we talked. No problem.
Then, after I was done cleaning, I had to call him back... and nothing. No dialtone, no nothing. But strangely, my Internet (DSL) still worked. Sort of. It hiccupped a couple of times.
That's when I unhooked my new cordless phone from that jack to move it elsewhere and noticed the end of it was wet.
This, I decided, was not good. I went to use the corded phone in the living room... and there was nothing. No dialtone! It wasn't just a problem with the phone, apparently, it was a problem with my phone LINE.
My first thought was that they'd cut me off. But no, I paid my bill in full last week, and anyways, the threatened disconnection date was the 28th. (Shush. ;))
My Internet connection was still working throughout all this, so I got a couple of friends to try giving me a call. One of them got shunted directly to voice mail (an indication that my line is seen as the system as "busy"), which meant, okay, my line had NOT been disconnected. And then, all of a sudden, my phone RANG. One of my friends, Chris, wound up getting through. And now my phone works.
It's all very strange.
