Hectic Friday.

Busy day!
I was up at 10, talked to my brother about Hattrick until 10:30, then went downtown to meet my mom so we could buy my dad something for Christmas. We also bought stuff for my mom's mom. Then, I dashed over two metro stops to meet Thomas, this guy I was in Quebec Society with. He's Irish, and has an unfortunate speech impediment, but he's a good guy anyways. We had hot chocolate and complained about exams and school at Second Cup, and then he had to talk to this waitress at an Irish pub a couple blocks away, and I went along.
The waitress? Was very cute. And then she opened her mouth and I could have melted. The loveliest Irish accent ever. And no speech impediment! ;) I tipped her well when paying for my Coke.
Amusing happening of the day:
While in the pub (empty at that point, except for me, Thomas and the waitress), I was joking about having corrupted a good Catholic girl, once upon a time, with my evil lesbian ways. Not two minutes later, a NUN walks in, selling very Jesus-themed calendars. After she left, Thomas turns to me and says "Somebody's trying to tell you he's watching you!", which cracked me and the waitress up.
After that, I froze my ass off while waiting for the bus to take me to my parents'. I got schooled at Halo 2, as per usual, by my brother, who then drove my dad to the airport ('cause he's off to Brazil for nearly a week for work), and he wasn't going to come back. I was then faced with the decision to stay or leave. It was a tough choice -- stay, as my mom was making meat sauce, or go home and die from my headache (note to self: must take nasal inhaler EVERY DAY)? Well, I stayed, had meat sauce, watched most of Jeopardy! with my mom, and then we took off, stopped at the bank, and I came home.
Call my client about that darn website that is still unfinished, and we touched base, so that's good.
And after getting home around 7:45, I promptly watched two hours of All My Children. Then I played some Sims 2. Then I went to the dep. Then I played more Sims 2.
So...
Elizabeth is an Elder, now. Her husband, Brandon, is still a useless shmoe, except he tucks his young twin daughters into bed at night, occasionally. Sarah, the eldest of the three daughters, can help her younger siblings out with their homework. Oh, and they're all in private school! W00t! The younger two, Jenna and Maggie, are going to grow up into teenagers soon, so I might flip back to the Sims after this entry and give them aspirations, etc.
Elizabeth should die in about 20 game days. By then, Brandon will be an Elder and Sarah should be an adult. I remain undecided about who should move out/stay in the house. I'm thinking I'll get Jenna/Maggie their own place, and leave Sarah in the house with Brandon, and possibly a husband and a kid. More than four active Sims is really more complicated than I want to play it!
The whole legacy thing is cool, though. I'm enjoying playing it as a sort of challenge, because it keeps the game fresh. You're trying to do the same thing, but it's harder with various Sims and it's always different, no matter how you go about doing it.
Also, there is a severe lack of teenage boys for Sarah to make out with. Actually, a severe lack of teenagers, period.
Also, on Barenaked for the Holidays, Kevin sings this song (Christmastime [Oh Year])! Very cool! Ooh! And then a Kevin/Steve duet! I love BNL.

(And here are my 2003 answers.)
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Got a GPA! And it was good! 3.47 for Winter 2004, baby! And driven legally! :O
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Sort of? Here are my resolutions and the results.
I resolve that after January 1st, 2004, I will stop waiting for a convenient time to make changes in my life and just do it when it needs to be done.
Not a chance.
I resolve to be more proactive about my life and stop letting it HAPPEN to me and just LIVE it already.
Eh. Not so much.
I resolve to stop drinking Coke/Pepsi/caffeinated soda for a period of no less than four months (May 1st).
I was close, I think! I think I made it into March.
I resolve to do well in school.
W00t. :D
I resolve to stop losing my goddamn belt.
Well, I stopped wearing it, and I know where I keep it, so ... sort of! :)
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes!!! MG, the very first of any of my circle of friends, has a son. July 5th, 2004.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great-aunt Marie passed away in April. We weren't close, but... anyways.
5. What countries did you visit?
!!! I visited countries!! I went to England and Scotland! :D (This would sound more impressive if it were cities, 'cause I could list more.)
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Hm. Self-respect?
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Oh, probably January 1st. July 5th (see above about the birth). That probably about it.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Doing well in school?
9. What was your biggest failure?
Letting myself become someone's bitch. (Who me? Bitter? No, not me!) Also, letting certain people get to me more than I should have let them.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
The year is not yet over. But my sinuses really pissed me off this year. No actual illness (just headaches from the sinuses, and a couple days of nausea here and there from not sleeping enough) or injury.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new laptop! <pets it lovingly>
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
The various judges whose decisions allowed same-sex marriage to occur in Canada this year. Can you belive SASKATCHEWAN allows it?! I'm (happily) shocked.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Some people I thought knew better. Also, the majority of voting Americans, apparently. AND the people in/out of my life who should have known better than to be petty.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Paying off Pascal! :D
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My new laptop, Hattrick, Sims 2, school (!), CB, England, SCOTLAND, Italian, All My Children, and various other TV shows. And driving!
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Strangely, probably My Stupid Mouth, by John Mayer.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, but more disillusioned, I think.
ii. thinner or fatter? A little thinner? I'm not a good judge of this.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer, because I'm less in debt!
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Being assertive, being outgoing, taking charge, exercising, studying, working, writing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastinating.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With the parents, the grandmothers, the brother (and I think the uncle) at the parents' house. And, like every single year, I will be very familied out at the end of the 36 hours or so that I spend there.
21 is still missing.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
No. I didn't. And I lost all of my infatuations, too. Disillusionment causes happiness, I say!
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
All My Children (I've been watching obsessively again since February), Lost, Las Vegas, Desperate Housewives.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I try not to hate. And the people I would hate? Don't deserve that much emotion spent on them.
26. What was the best book you read?
The Da Vinci Code? I didn't read too much. This will change next year.
27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
John Mayer, REM. (I'd listened to John Mayer a little before, and REM... happy memories.)
28. What did you want and get?
Laptop. Money. Good grades.
29. What did you want and not get?
The impossible with CB, but I don't want that anymore. Also, for certain people to not be as stupid. Alas...
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Good grief. Spider-Man 2? I didn't see a lot of movies this year, and most of the ones I saw just weren't all that good.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I actually had to look up the date in my LJ. The day before my birthday, I went to lunch with a friend. The day of, I went to dinner at my parents', and then a friend and I went to the casino.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Realizing, at the beginning of the year, that I was being manipulated. But hey, better late than never.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Unchanged from last year: Jeany.
34. What kept you sane?
Good friends. Wireless Internet access at school. Good music. Long bus rides. Writing. Sims 2.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Elizabeth Hendrickson, Eden Riegel?
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The federal election in April. God, I love being a DRO.
37. Who did you miss?
drsnicket, the ex, my Lush, and a couple others. (Very similar to last year.)
38. Who was the best new person you met?
MG's son. :D Apart from him, online: KD. offline: possibly Ali, possibly my Cyberspace teacher.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
Beware manipulative people. If you see that they manipulate others, do not be under the mistaken impression that they won't do it to you. Also, determine ASAP whether that dream you dream is remotely possible or if it's just going to stay a dream forever.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I'm never speaking up again it only hurts me. / I'd rather be a mystery than she desert me. / Oh I'm never speaking up again / Starting now / One more thing..." (My Stupid Mouth, John Mayer)
Long post, but cut enough, I hope. I can't stand posting like, six entries in a row, so everything is in here. ;)
