Quite something, isn't it? One of BNL's many talents is writing songs that sound cool even if you don't know what they're about. "When I Fall" was my favourite track on Born On a Pirate Ship even before I realized it was about window-washing.
I was about to say I'm afraid I can't link you because I can't find the site anymore, but before posting I figured I'd try one more time -- and I found it! This (http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Field/3774/bnlmenu.html) is the site, and "Barenaked Vocab" is the section. There are full annotations for the Ladies' first four albums, explaining all their references. If anything, they overdo it (I think most of us know what a tire is), but better too much than too little. Well worth a read.
