It's been a long week. I've been miserable and upset, weak and depressed, congested and feverish.
Now, I'm tired and unable to sleep, still somewhat congested, without fever, but wheezy. Oh, the joy of asthma!!!
Okay. Some thoughts:
- As I watched the news obsessively yesterday, and heard about the Air India verdict over and over again, hearing more reactions and such, I suddenly thought of the other girls in my class who knew this one girl who was on the flight. Out of the 16 of us who were there in grade 1, and knew the girl in question, ten of us graduated together. I'm not in touch with any of those nine women -- not LC, AC, DH, NM, VT, CS, JS, LS or EO. And I'm definitely not in touch with the four girls from grade 1 who left before grade 11 (CE, WY, KJ and SC).
But I do know one thing: Yesterday, no matter what any of us are doing these days, no matter how different our lives are, no matter what we've done since June 23rd, 1985 to now... We were all united in our disappointment in the ruling. And that... that actually made me smile. That across 15 different lives, 15 different paths, backgrounds, religions, sexualities, life situations, we were all united, and we all knew it without saying a word to each other.
- Less deep, less profound, I swear. The side effects of the antibiotics I'm on SUCK. Apart from the worry of yeast infections (although I've never had one before, and I've been on antibiotics a LOT, over the years, I seem to be petrified of the possibility these days -- and I'm not a fan of yogurt), I'm getting abdominal cramps every day, after about 45-60 minutes from taking the dose. And other un-fun things. "Most of the side effects [...] were related to the gastrointestinal tract." That's all I'll say. In fact, I feel so nasty that my brother's dog refused to leave my room. He's just been lying on the floor, dozing, waiting to see if I'm okay. Dammit, I'm going to start loving that little furball.''
- Just checked some grades online -- I got an 82% on my George Herbert Mead paper THAT SUCKED SO BAD, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. That's my highest mark in Social Theory to date. :D Yay for actual improvement. (This just goes to show that I have zero perspective on my own work, apparently.)
- I miss new Lost episodes, dammit.
- I wasn't a fan of this week's Alias. Sam annoyed the hell out of me. What the hell was the purpose of that episode? Honestly.
- My left ear has been blocked since 6pm on Monday night. It was briefly unblocked today for all of two minutes. It was ECSTASY, I tell you.
- The West Wing continues to amuse me.
I promise to get back to actually reading/commenting on my friends' posts. It's just so much effort to think in coherent sentences right now, although the fever's gone. (YAY.)
Thanks for all the well-wishes, by the way. I appreciate y'all. :) <hugs>
