I am awake.
I am not at all happy about this.
I went to bed around 1:30, tossed and turned and FINALLY fell asleep around 2:30.
4:30 rolls around, I'm dying of thirst, so I get up, get a glass (okay, like, three) of water and then toss and turn for another few minutes. Am I able to go back to sleep?
Hellllllll no.
I just tried to sleep for God only knows how long, and at 6:37am, I'm still awake.
Bleah.
I suppose I could watch some Olympics stuff, live, but (and this is where I get pelted by large objects), I hate the Summer Games.
No joke, really. There's one event that I care about (100m dash), but I don't even know who this Pierre Browne is that's competing for Canada. I miss Donovan Bailey. Oh, and I hope Simon Whitfield wins the triathlon again, too.
Apart from that, I'll watch diving, but it doesn't really interest me.
Gymnastics bore me to tears.
Give me the good ol' Winter Games. Not only is there HOCKEY, but there's skiing (all kinds), and ski-jumping and all kinds of NEAT sports. (Although sitting through figure skating competitions will make me homicidal. I do enjoy speed skating, however.)
Don't get me wrong -- go Canada and all that, but face it. We're a nation that has snow for half the damn year. We're not built for these outdoorsy summer games, and we never do well in them. In Sydney, we finished with 14 medals. 3 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze. True, in Salt Lake we only had 17, but seven of them were gold (including both men's and women's hockey. And only the men's hockey really matters to me. The women winning was a bonus, 'cause hey, we beat the States for BOTH championships!).
Since I was a kid, I've always been a little annoyed with Canada's performances at the Olympics. We're a small nation (30 million people or so) and apparently, most of us aren't really good athletes. I guess if we were racking up medals like the USA or Russia or whoever tend to do so, I'd take more interest in them. As it is, I have my few events scattered throughout the Winter Games and the one event in the Summer Games, and that's about it.
And... <looks at what TSN and CBC are showing> Yeah, softball, baseball, volleyball and water polo? Not my style.
I suppose I could work. Or write. Or something.
Being bored at 7am is, well, boring.
