So, I curled up in bed with the Big Purple Podcast (live edition) at 9pm Eastern tonight. The Big Purple Podcast is the podcast for the Big Purple Dreams board, which is the Otalia (Olivia/Natalia) fan board. Normally, it's not live, it's at podbean every weekend.
So about 25 minutes in, I dozed off. I was comfy and cozy and just fell asleep.
At about 70 minutes in, I hear Destini, the fearless leader of the Big Purple People say: "GUYS. CRYSTAL'S ON THE SWITCHBOARD."
And I'm like... half-asleep.
And then Crystal Chappell's voice is in my bedroom. (Crystal Chappell plays Olivia Spencer on Guiding Light and previously played Carly Manning on Days of Our Lives and Maggie Carpenter on One Life to Live.)
Turns out that Crystal twittered during the podcast (which she wasn't listening to -- she was just twittering) and Destini and company tweeted her to say they were doing the podcast live this week and to call in.
She tried and the lines were full.
Destini was like "CLEAR THE LINES." And the lines were clear! And she called in!
She chatted on the podcast for like, 35-40 minutes or so. Just, you know. Randomly. She even put her husband, Michael Sabatino, on the phone, who was like "I'm on a PODCAST?". Here's where you can download it, if you like.
I am constantly stunned by how this woman (and, to a little lesser degree, Jessica Leccia, who plays Natalia Rivera) reaches out to us. On Twitter, doing interviews, randomly calling up the freaking folks for the live podcast! Jessica has been EMAILING people personal replies, while PREGNANT and working! Seriously, could you imagine Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden reaching out and embracing us like this? Or, I don't know, Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson? Eden Riegel and Elizabeth Hendrickson? No. You cannot. Because this kind of embracing of the fans is totally unheard of, is so unique. It's amazing.
Anyways, it was kind of awesome. And I'm gonna get some sleep nowish.
