End of the year meme.
Dec. 22nd, 2006 03:27 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I cannot fathom that 2007 is just a few days away. Gah.
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Had food poisoning.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I have a vague recollection of attempting to stop drinking Coke (didn't work out) and an even more vague recollection of resolving, at 4am on the 1st of January, to be more tolerant of stupid people. I think that lasted a couple of months and then sporadically every time I remembered I'd resolved it. I'll probably make some more for next year, and I should write them down.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Italia! I spent a couple weeks in Italy with stopovers in Germany both on the way there and on the way back. Didn't see anything of Germany except parts of the Frankfurt airport, though.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Apart from money, love and all the usual junk? Maybe to be more at peace with myself. DEFINITELY more sleep around mid-terms and finals.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Yes! Another year where nothing significantly bad happened that would make me remember the date. :)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
IRL: Navigating Milano by myself?
In WoW: Getting my Rhok'delar and Lok'delar.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Escaping into the fantasy world of WoW instead of escaping into schoolwork. ;)
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
See aforementioned food poisoning. Wasn't a bad year in terms of being ill, though. Mostly just sinus issues.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Alias Season 2.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My brother's, recently. CB's, on occasion. Maybe even my own.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Jackass of a guildmaster who left us in October.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, bills, the usual.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Office and various WoW-related things (Strat 45, MC, the Rhok/Lok quest.)
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall and Mushaboom by Feist.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Sadder, I think.
II. Thinner or fatter? Thinner, my jeans are loose again.
III. Richer or poorer? Poorer, but not by much.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing!!! Studying. Reading for school.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting my time in all kinds of ways.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? (answer c/ped from last year)
As with every Christmas, I'll be taken to my parents' house to spend Christmas Eve with my parents, my brother and both my grandmothers. I'll spend the night there, wake up to my brother jingling a jingle bell in my EAR (I'm not kidding.) at an obscene hour on Christmas Day. We'll wake up the rest of the family (parents/grandmothers) and sit in the living room drinking tea/coffee/orange juice until everyone's assembled. Then we'll empty our stockings together, then do the gifts under the tree. Insert a breakfast (usually omelets or other egg-ish breakfasts), followed by either computer/console gaming or DVD viewing (depending on the gifts received) and likely a nap. Shower, dress for dinner, which will include the family from Christmas Eve, plus my brother's GF and possibly others.. I will get home about 32 hours after I left my apartment, and will be completely familied out.
21 seems to be missing...
22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Nope.
23. How many one night stands?
None.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
Lost, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Heroes, 30 Rock...
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I try, really, really, really hard, not to hate people. I am disgusted and/or disappointed with L (ex-GM of my guild), F (warrior officer), E (ex-paladin officer)... and I barely knew these people last year.
26. What was the best book you read?
I have the feeling I read a couple of books this year, but they couldn't have been that good, because I have no recollection of them.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Not a clue.
28. What did you want and get?
RAM for my computer.
29. What did you want and not get?
A whole lot of stuff. Them's the breaks.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Superman Returns, which I got on DVD, courtesy of the LOVELY
drsnicket. :D
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Ahaha, I went to the museum of fine arts and nearly passed out there, was mortified that the cute female security guard saw me in such a state of ick... Felt better after resting outside in the fresh air and the sun with CB, eating fresh baguette and laughing. Went to my parents' for dinner and got RAM. And, yeah, turned 29.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
IRL: Better grades.
WoW: Downing Domo, Rag and Ony as a guild.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Jeany, as always.
34. What kept you sane?
WoW and friends, both IRL and online.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Of late, Tina Fey. Mmmmmmmm.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election in January, I guess, and this whole idea of reopening the same-sex marriage debate.
37. Who did you miss?
I feel like I spent the whole year in a permanent state of "missing".
38. Who was the best new person you met?
IRL: No idea, I've basically not made any close NEW friends, although I've gotten closer to past acquaintances.
Online/WoW: VP, no doubt.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
Being clear about your goals and desires, and the way in which you'd like to achieve them, is not always easy to do, but is required in working within a team. Those who make assumptions of any kind are fools at best.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Can't really think of anything all that appropriate, but this'll do:
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
-- Wake Me Up When September Ends, Green Day
Must. Go. Shopping. <terrified whimper>
