I am still young!

Went to MG's son's birthday party yesterday. He is two. He is adorable.

That said, I felt supremely old, being a year older than M and most of her other friends there.

Until M got her brother to play me "The Teen Buzz", AKA "The Mosquito Ringtone".

It's a sound at a frequency of 17khz and, to me, is piercing. Akin to knowing a TV is on around me, even if it's on mute and I can't see it. You can listen to it here:

There's all this hype about it because apparently, adults can't hear it. So I felt much younger when I realized I could. M's mom couldn't, but M, me and all M's friends could. The baby even made a face. And people are making it into a ringtone. Crazy!

However, this dude made 4 sound files of "true" sine wave frequencies. The 17khz one is, to me, just barely audible. I can tell when it stops, but I have trouble discerning it when it's active. Go listen here:
