Driving. Sucks.
Jul. 15th, 2005 06:27 pmOkay, so due to various events this weekend, I have once again stolen my mother's car.
On my way to my parents' house, this one light was stuck on red, so all the traffic went through it. I made a mental note not to go home on that road.
So I get to my parents' house, and I have to back out the Pathfinder, park it, go get the Saturn, back THAT out, park it further down the street, then get the Pathfinder and park that back in the driveway, then drop off the Pathfinder's key, set the alarm and leave. That ALONE got me all grumpy. Considering my parents live on a street that is on a steep hill, this was very much of the unfun.
I then drove down the street and parked in a little parking lot, dropped in my 25 cents in the meter and was annoyed to realize I had 20 minutes to go to my bank. 20 minutes? I needed six, all told. So that was irritating. Ah, well. Someone else got a gift of 14 minutes.
So I drove up and along, past my childhood neighbourhood, to avoid going through the red light.
I'm stopped at the stop line right in front of a red light. And what happens? I hear sirens behind me. It could have been worse, it could have been the police chasing me or something. As it was, it was an ambulance. They have a ways to go to get to me, so I spent a couple seconds willing the red light to turn green. It doesn't happen. So what do I do? I GO THROUGH THE RED LIGHT, pulling over to the side of the road. Ironic. I take a detour to get home to prevent myself from going through a red, and I wind up doing so anyways.
And, this just in, another reason driving sucks:
Being stuck in traffic. You see,
drsnicket called me not that long ago to complain that they seemed to have CLOSED OFF part of the highway from the US border, and she was in frickin' RICHELIEU (somewhere east off the island) and traffic was crawling. Eventually, she seems to have gotten on to the proper highway, but STILL. Our plans for dinner and ice cream were nearly thwarted! This would have been tragic, because I am DYING for some St-Hubert's.
And, you know, it's been like, since MARCH since I've seen my best friend, so I admit I'm looking forward to seeing her, too. ;)
Anyways, off to finish tidying up before she calls me and I head over to pick her up. I wonder if that #%)@*# light is still stuck on red?
