Storytime!

brinshannara: (what i write)
Instead of working on my Research Methods thing that's due, you know, tomorrow, I have applied a facemask and am burning things to CD.

So I decided to tell you all a story.

Storytime! )

There's like, other stuff going on in my life.

Training is over. I did four surveys last night and my numbers weren't that far off the average. I did five tonight (four in French! And it was loooooong!) and I'll find out how I matched up to the average on Sunday when I next go in.

On the whole, I don't rock, but I don't suck, either, and sometimes, the surveys are really interesting. I seem to be calling in Quebec all the time, though. I hope that'll change. I want to get some ENGLISH PEOPLE for once, dammit. Out of the 65 calls I made where I actually got through to a real person (and not a fax, a business or an answering machine), I think maybe five or six were English. That said, I'm getting better with the French. The key is an old trick I picked up at the radio station in college -- read everything over FIRST. It's hard to do with a long survey, especially if the answers can then branch out into other parts of the survey that are otherwise not asked, but God, does it ever help.

My friend C (no, not [livejournal.com profile] drsnicket) is having her convocation from law school on Friday. She graduated last year, but is convocating now, finally. And I'm going. It's going to be interesting -- both her parents (who are divorced) will be there, along with her step-father, and her brother. Then there's me and at least two of her other friends. This is the first time I'll have seen her dad in like, 11 years, EASILY. I think I last saw him in '94 when I was working for my dad as his medical receptionist part time, and he came in for an appointment, and I asked how C and her brother were doing. I know it wasn't more recent than that, at any rate, but it could have been a lot earlier. Note to self: buy flowers for C.

And, finally, the reason I'm CONSCIOUS at ten to five in the morning, despite being exhausted...

Research Methods.

I have to write an Introduction, a Statement of the Problem and do an outline of the literature review. Whimper. I haven't quite gone through half my sources, and it's slowwwwww.

And I'm so tired.

It's due in... 13h40m.

I am going to try to get this done so that I will be free for more L Word with JB later on. Let's just hope she finishes it on time. That would be a bonus.

I think that about does it for my rambling. I have a cup of tea to perk me up and then I must get back to work.

Also, I am thinking of starting a Lost community for my friends, basically. [livejournal.com profile] shiningmoon, [livejournal.com profile] llnaughty, [livejournal.com profile] erbie, [livejournal.com profile] superswank, [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 and [livejournal.com profile] drsnicket all have really fascinating viewpoints on the show and various aspects thereof. Would you guys be into that? Comment. Let me know. (Also, open/closed? Moderated/not moderated? Dominic Monaghan fangirls/no fangirls?)

Eesh.

brinshannara: (i want my spymommy!)
WANTED: Someone intelligent to write an introduction, a statement of the problem and an outline of a literature review for the topic "Fluidity of Identity in Online Interactions". Attention to detail appreciated. Familiarity with identity theory, multiplicity (not the Michael Keaton movie), Sherry Turkle, Bargh and McKenna's work, or the ability to speedread, is strongly recommended. No pay, save my eternal gratitude. In lieu of doing the work for me, encouragement that I CAN do this before 6pm is not only permitted but welcomed.

Right. I hate school. Have I mentioned this?

JB and I talked for, oh, two and a half hours. We are both so not making it to class and will be working all frickin' night to get our assignments done.

Also, it is bloody hot here. Like, 27 degrees, which is 81, for y'all.

And also, I'm Dewey! )

Sigh. Back to work.

(And only 24 more days to go before I allow myself to start drinking Coke again, occasionally. It'll be six months on the 25th, so on the 26th, I will allow myself the odd can. How I wish I were letting myself do that NOW, because I could REALLY use the caffeine.)

Conundrum.

(And yes, I am posting a LOT today. Sue me.)

Temperature = 27/81.
Couch and living room = buried in a paper avalanche for RM project.
Windows = open.
Breeze = nonexistent.
Possible solution = fan.
Worry = papers flying EVERYWHERE.
Annoyance factor = high.
Possibility of L Word with JB later = slim to none, due to aforementioned RM project.
Probability of risking paper tornado by introducing fan to living room = growing higher the sweatier I get.
Sleep gotten this morning = 4.5 hours.
Mood = increasingly cranky.
Mood improvement upon seeing a shirtless!Sawyer in user icon = somewhat.
Hope that sleep will be a possibility tonight = rising.
Amusement by this format of writing = quite high.
Guilt setting in over having run errands and now LJing = off the scale.
Chances of getting back to work in the next five minutes = pretty decent, due to guilt.
