Feeling better.
Nov. 23rd, 2004 02:40 pmThis is Crunch Week. Paper due yesterday. Paper due tomorrow. Composition/test on Thursday, exam next Monday...
But I'm feeling better.
I got close to nine hours of sleep last night (not all that restful, but not horrible), my back (which I strained last week) is feeling better, and, well, I've DONE one of the papers due this week, so the plate is less full, now. (Also, I rocked my Italian homework. This means I UNDERSTAND what will be on the test! W00t!)
I took a few minutes after Italian to go see Nelly, the mature student advisor who is a godsend. And that's putting it mildly.
I asked her about the differences in a major, a major/minor, a specialization and an honours. And I may actually apply for entrance into the Honours Sociology program as of Fall 2005. This is not a sure thing yet.
But since I'm probably at LEAST going to do a specialization, this means less credits need to be eaten up by general education classes. So I dropped the one I was planning on taking next semester. Because of that, I was able to switch my Stats II section to the section my current Stats prof is teaching. Hey, if I'm doing well in a class, I want to stick with the same teacher as much as possible.
So I didn't replace the GenEd with anything. I told Nelly I was currently registered for five classes, and she smiled real big at me and said "Are you sure you want to take five classes?"
"... no?"
"Right, so let's go over why you think five classes is a good idea."
"Because it eats up more credits?"
"But is eating up credits your goal, or do you want to maintain a good GPA?"
She reminded me that I'm having difficulty adjusting to four classes from three last semester (very true) and that my GPA from last semester is a distinction (3.4+ = distinction), and that I should try to keep that up if at all possible, especially if I want to try for an honours, or if I want to do a masters later on.
So I dropped the GenEd and switched my Stats section and I should, should do okay next semester.
I feel better. Things look okay.
Off to stats.

AND, AND, I just got 96 on my last stats assignment. ROCK.

Take THAT, you evil, evil library system! Against ALL ODDS, I remembered my PIN!
And promptly changed it to something I would actually remember.
It happened to be my old voice mail PIN, which I changed, because it was remarkably sentimental (and moderately lame -- it was the hotel room number of the room I had at a business conference back in 2000, which I shared with my then-GF. Shut up. It was a special weekend.). But I changed that some months ago, on the voice mail, and now have changed the PIN for the library system.
Whew. I can now do my paper.
