Ahoy, hoy.

(Subject stolen from my friend P.)

Go here:

It's Waldorf and Statler doing movie reviews. I laughed. A lot.

(Link stolen from [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe.)

Other stolen things:

- 2-3 hours of my sleep from last night/this morning, gone missing when I woke up inexplicably around 11:30 this morning.
- My mother's car. Which I stole. So while it's stolen, at least I have it.
- My mid-semester break. I go back to school Thursday. WHERE DID THE LAST TWO WEEKS GO?!
- My sanity, clearly.
- My heart is on the verge of being stolen by the sweetest woman I've met in years. This, I'm not minding so much.

On that note, I need to get dressed and drive downtown, whereupon I will hunt for a parking spot. I hate parking. Parking downtown will not be pleasant. And on top of THAT, there is work. Oh, the joy of work. Whee. Then again, it's a lovely (if hot) day and I will be in an air-conditioned building for 4+ hours.

PSA of the Day: Please don't hang up on people calling you about a survey. If you don't want to participate, please inform the caller politely without interrupting them and, if you don't want to be called again, just ask to be taken off the list. Thank you, and have a nice day.

And seriously, watch the Waldorf and Statler thing. It made me laugh. :)

Poll stolen (in part) from [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe:

Swedish Chef? Oscar The Grouch? COME ON WOMAN!

Well, sorry to say, I'm one of those nasty people. I spend all day at work on the phone, the last thing I want to do at home is spend any more time on the phone than I have to. And quite frankly, I find the whole concept of phone survey's intrusive. Just because I have a phone, doesn't mean I want you coming "in" to my house. I have clearly marked signs on my driveway saying "No Trespassing" and "No Solicitors". To me, an unrequested phone call is the same thing.

I know in your paticular case, you truly are not selling anything, but I have been sucked into sales pitches enough times over the years by seemingly innocent calls, that I just hang up on all calls now that sound even remotely like they are not a friend of mine.

Or do what I do: don't answer it (especially if you don't recognize the Caller ID). We are Pavlovian-trained to answer it when it rings. It's taken me a long while to realize we're not required to pick it up.

[identity profile] seanpaune.livejournal.com 2005-06-28 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Wish it was that easy, but in my paticular case, I have to answer even if I don't recognize the number. Numerous reasons, all business related. So I have no choice but to pick up.

[identity profile] mittens83.livejournal.com 2005-06-28 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't pick up either, ESP if it's the SAME DARN WOMAN who phones up asking for NICOLE!!

Note: I have been telling this woman since MARCH I AM NOT NICOLE!

So yeah. I don't pick up unless I know the number. If you want me, leave a message is my theory :)

[identity profile] mittens83.livejournal.com 2005-06-28 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
If it's a survey-person, I'll answer their questions if I happen to pick up. If, of course, you tell me you are a survey person and not selling me double glazing or bug killers...

I do love me the Swedish Chef. I limited myself to naming four from each show, with an extra "Elmo must die" option and I named all five Fraggles. And I should have added Oscar, too. Hm, hm.

No love for the Swedish Chef *sniffle*

As for the phone calls, I would NEVER curse at YOU for doing your job. I may not like your job, but I would never be nasty for to you for doing it:) Promise:)

And I will take your advice and now say something about removing me from the list before I hang up...no cursing though...EVER:)

I'm sure you already know what I'm going to add ;)

Besides Kermit and Miss Piggy (OTP OMG!!), there's Rygel and the bestest bestest Muppet of all, Pilot!

And they're from Farscape, of course. Which is the answer that goes with the next "Other." :)

[identity profile] trexphile.livejournal.com 2005-06-28 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am :)

And I realized that I forgot to ticky the "Other" box on that question. Urgh.
