Coolest Thing of the Week
Easily the niftiest thing I've seen online in a while. (snagged from MetaFilter)
Here are the rules:
1) Watch this video (Java req.), only once. In the video, you will see a group of people playing basketball. Some are in white, some are in black. Count the passes the people in white make. It's that simple. Just count the passes the people in the white shirts make. And only watch the video once.
2) Once you've done that (and written the number of passes down, if you won't remember it for a minute), go here and be amazed.
Spoilers in the comments, so do the test FIRST before reading any comments.

So I counted 14 passes in the video, thought "what's the big deal?", went on to step two and was like "what the fuck are they talking about? A gorilla??"
When given the link to the video at the end, I clicked on it and watched it and was absolutely convinced it was a wholly different video.
So I looked at the URL and compared it to the original I'd clicked on. And they were identical.
I always seem to fall for this stuff...

When I looked at the questions afterward, I was like "Okay, I remember seeing something weird in that video but I don't remember what it was!" It's like I saw it but it didn't register.
Oh, and I counted thirteen passes ;)
I'm really curious to see how Seth fares with this -- he hasn't taken his Adderall today so I'm wondering if he'll be distracted when the gorilla walks in.
