I used to watch hockey religiously - haven't in a while, but I'm not totally clueless yet...so I'm thinking the hockey question must be a trick, with the "Leafs"/"Leaves" thing, so that's why I answered how I did, unless I'm wrong in which case I must really be clueless and not realize it.

Also, I want to be Queen of Canada, despite, y'know, not being Canadian and all.

I started watching hockey because my 10th grade geometry teacher gave extra credit for watching St Louis Blues games, so I rooted for them.

I like this geometry teacher. The Blues are a decent team. Too bad he/she didn't have you all root for the Habs!

... had he/she had you root for Toronto's team, I would have not been impressed. ;)

Oooh, when I was a big Blues fan I hated Toronto so bad. I held a grudge after a playoffs game where one of their players (shit, can't remember his name) slammed into our better goalie and tore his ACL (I think that's what happened...uh, something big and important was torn, anyway) about 2 seconds into game 1. HATED them. Not as much as the Red Wings, but close.

Ouch, poor goalie! Looking online, it seems like it was Grant Fuhr who was the goalie, but I don't know who the Toronto player was. But at least the Blues beat Toronto in six! :)

It's always weird to me that there could possibly be a place in North America where there isn't a clear-cut hockey team to cheer for. Obviously, anyone who's in Canada who doesn't live in a hockey city (apart from Montreal) should cheer for Montreal. ;) But the US has 24 teams. It's interesting to see how people choose or how their choices are made for them. :)

I didn't know the Toronto answer at ALL because, well, I don't really hear it said much, and when I do, it's by an American journalist, and I have no idea whether they're saying it "right" or not.

Also, I live really far away from Canada, almost as far away as you can and still live in the continental US ;)

Everyone seems to have gotten the province between Alberta and Manitoba right, which amuses me, because I always thought people had NO CLUE what the hell that province is named.

And you also got the Toronto pronounciation right! Yay you. :)

I'm from Michigan... and have developed my own dialect :D So, this is how I pronounce everything!
