Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] trexphile because it's new to me, I'm bored while waiting to put my laundry in the dryer and because, well, I like memes.

Meeeeeeeme. )

Laundry time, then Jeopardy!, then some WoW. My life, she is thrilling at the moment.

Ick.

No idea why I'm conscious. Weird dreams.

So I did some memes. )

And in other news, happy birthday to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63!

So I'm up because my body is like "Dude. It's 3:30pm. WAKE UP."

Of course, it's only 9:30am when my body says this. I have been awake for an hour. WTF.

So I am swiping a meme from [livejournal.com profile] moireach.

Reply to this meme, and I'll pick one of your LJ interests. You tell me a whole bunch of stuff about it, and we all learn a bit more.

Go 'head and feel free to steal it.

Comment on this entry and get a letter (if you're up to playing). Write ten words beginning with that letter, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why. (If you've done it before, let me know what letters you've already used.

I foolishly asked [livejournal.com profile] moireach to give me one and she gave me E.

Elizabeth - my middle name and a name I like, in general. Also the name of way too many people I know.

ethernet - I've been perpetually online since I was 8 or 9 years old, but did not know, first-hand, the beauty of ethernet cables until I was about 22. I fell in love forever the day I connected my DSL modem to my computer's ethernet card for the very first time.

email - Somewhat related to the above, I've had SOME form of electronic mail available to me since I was 8 or 9, and I can't possibly imagine going without.

Erica Kane - I have watched All My Children on and off (mostly on) since I was six, back when my grandmother made me cover my eyes during certain scenes. Though Erica is not my favourite character and Susan Lucci is not my favourite actress... everyone knows Erica, and I do love that character, despite her great many flaws. :)

Egypt - When I was a kid, I loved all the Egyptian mythology regarding their gods. Seth, Osiris, Isis... fascinating. I attribute it to "The Egypt Game" by Zilpha Keatley Snyder.

emotions - I am an emotional person. I feel things deeply, good or bad, and am happy with that, for the most part. After all, how else will you know how good the good is without knowing how bad the bad is?

emoticons - how else do you get tone to come across through the screen? :)

Eliot - as in, T.S. Eliot, who wrote one my my all-time favourite poems, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Much love.

Ellegon - a dragon from Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series, which is one of my all-time favourite series of books.

English - seems silly to write it down, but in this crazy province of Quebec, where the French language is the official language, and is incredibly dominant, English deserves a place on the list of ten. I seem to spend my days trying to bend the English language to my will, to describe something just so... Whether it's the sun shining through my living room windows at (holy crap) 8:30am or whether it's how I feel about a certain situation, I'm always playing with the English language. I flirt with Italian and I have been seriously involved with French since I was born, but English, I think, is my true love.

Whew. Bed!

Memeness.

Put your music player on "random" and write down your favourite line from the first 25 songs to come up. Then let everyone on your friends list try to name them. Google is cheating.

Let me just say this in my defense -- I have 1247 songs and I don't listen to more than half of them on a regular basis. Many are albums friends have given me or I've burned for friends/family. Also, oh, the SHAME. (I'm excluding instrumentals.)

1) Now when did you last let your heart decide? Aladdin, A Whole New World - [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe
2) We were looking for ourselves / but found each other BNL, In the Car -
[livejournal.com profile] erbie
3) Twisting and turning / Your feelings are burning Red Hot Chili Peppers, Breaking the Girl - [livejournal.com profile] llnaughty
4) If we make it back / I'll renounce Jack Kerouac / And all that romantic crap BNL, Baby Seat - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
5) Deliver you from evil, spare your innocence and youth
6) If I get home before daylight, / I just might get some sleep tonight. Counting Crows cover of Friend of the Devil - [livejournal.com profile] mtgat
7) Don't be shy let everyone or me at least inside
8) Lì anche la notte è meno oscura
9) I'm not trying to cause a big sensation / I'm just talkin' 'bout my generation Oasis cover of The Who, My Generation - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
10) get a real job, that's what they said to me Good Charlotte, The Anthem - [livejournal.com profile] tapdancinghippo
11) Size of the entire universe man They Might Be Giants, Particle Man - [livejournal.com profile] mtgt (honourary mention to [livejournal.com profile] shiningmoon)
12) I will be strong I will be faithful / 'cause I'm counting on a new beginning.
13) While I, with human-hindered eyes
14) When your man / Wanna get buckwild
15) After all that's what this country was founded on / Do nothing different just fall in line. SR-71, Politically Correct - [livejournal.com profile] tapdancinghippo
16) I know your address / I ring the bell BNL, Straw Hat and Old Dirty Hank - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
17) It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness Sarah McLachlan, Angel - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
18) Now they pan and scan / And edit out the everyman
19) Down my road, will it lead to you? / I just can't turn, you walk away
20) You can call me Pavlov's dog / Ring a bell and I'll salivate BNL, Brian Wilson - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
21) When everybody loves you, son, that's just about as funky as you can be Counting Crows, Mr. Jones - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
22) I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep Simon and Garfunkel, Feelin' Groovy - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
23) Small and white, clean and bright Sound of Music, Edelweiss - [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe
24) Love is a temple / Love the higher law U2, One - [livejournal.com profile] erbie
25) Oh I'm never speaking up again / Starting now / One more thing...

Q&A meme )

Goin' to the dep, then coming home to study. I can't believe I have to be up at 10 tomorrow after getting up at 8 today. Sigh.
brinshannara: (i am canadian)
I'm a considerate visionary.

And my "DNA" strip looks like this:

I'm on spring break and will be watching the Canadian women take on the Finnish women in Olympic hockey. Winner goes against the Czechs in the gold medal match, loser goes against the USA in the bronze match.

GO CANADA. :D

(Honestly, I could really care less about any sport except hockey. This does not mean I'm not psyched that we have 2 golds, 4 silver and 3 bronzes, I think it stands at.)

And also, BREATHING SUCKS. Woke up twice last night coughing up a lung. Stupid #)%*@)#%*. GRR.

A meme.

My Italian exam went pretty okay, actually. I think I may have gotten in the mid-70s, which is okay. A little higher might bump me from a B- to a B, though. I got 8.6/10 for my oral presentation on Pisa, which is AMAZING. It's my best mark ever in Italian. Er, except for a test I got 89% on back last fall in Italian 201.

Basically, though, I didn't blank on any tenses as a whole and I managed to keep most tenses separate in my mind. Go me.

Friends entry to follow, but first, a meme.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. "Lodestar" by Sarah Harmer
2. "Brian Wilson" covered by the Brown Derbies
3. "Christmas Time is Here (instrumental)" by Vince Guaraldi Trio
4. "Never Been Hurt" by Sara Melson
5. "South of Me" by Weeping Tile
6. "The Freshmen" by The Verve Pipe
7. "Where is my Mind" by The Pixies

And I shall tag... [livejournal.com profile] trexphile, [livejournal.com profile] moireach, [livejournal.com profile] spykate, [livejournal.com profile] seanpaune, [livejournal.com profile] hambam, [livejournal.com profile] jessruth and [livejournal.com profile] goldfishdreams.

And also, if you have not yet played this game, prepare to sink hours into it. Addictive little beast. And I take no responsibility if you get fired for having played instead of worked.

This is really the first season I've really watched most of The Apprentice. I like the tasks, primarily, and I like following a couple of people as far as they go, which is usually not all that far.

Spoilers for 4x13 and the previews for next week. )

I cannot WAIT to see next week's episode!

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] seanpaune tagged me for this...

Ground Rules:
The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yours" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

Meme/game thingy. )

I tag: [livejournal.com profile] drsnicket, [livejournal.com profile] literaryradical, [livejournal.com profile] shiningmoon, [livejournal.com profile] llnaughty and [livejournal.com profile] timtwoface.

I went to bed before midnight and woke up shortly before 9am.

Seriously, the world is ending.

I awoke to the first real snowstorm of the season. On the plus side, SKIING eventually. On the negative side, commuting will suck.

And now a meme, before I go write for half the day.

Questioning meme of sorts. )

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over these words right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) by what people remember about you.

1. What did you do last night?

Pumpkin carving party at JB's.

2. Who was the last person you called?

My grandmother.

3. What does the 5th text on your phone say?

Uh, I don't tend to receive text messages.

4. When was the last time you thought about sex?

While reading the question. ;)

5. When was the last time you got hurt?

Well, today I'm totally stiff and sore from spending two hours on the hardwood floor, carving a pumpkin.

6. When was the last time you cried?

Two weeks ago?

7. When was the last time you lost something?

I misplace things a lot, but I rarely LOSE things.

8. What are you listening to right now?

Desperate Housewives.

9. Why did your last relationship end?

A combination of distance, being poor, and having grown apart. (I still believe the latter is due to the former two items.) And also 'cause she broke up with me. ;)

10. What bothers you the most about the opposite sex?

Objectification of women. I like women, too, but I don't OBJECTIFY them and just want sex from them. Like many men seem to.

11. Where was the best date you've ever been on?

I don't know if you can count it as a "date", but my then-GF and I were both there, so... a BNL concert. It was great.

12. What was the last thing a guy/girl bought for you?

Probably a food item. JB and I are always buying food for each other.

June of 2004, to England and Scotland.

19. How do you feel right now?

Kind of sleepy.

20. Who do you think will do this survey next?

1. Search your blog archive.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Find the 5th sentence. (This is supposed to say something about you)
4. Post your sentence in your blog with these instructions.

Here's the sentence:

3) Gabrielle of Poteidaia.

It was a Ten Fictional Characters That You Would Sleep With meme.

<shrugs> What can I say? I loved Gabby. :)

Hm. I'm going to redo the Ten Fictional Characters That You Would Sleep With meme.

1) Maggie Stone (AMC)
2) Tara Maclay (BtVS)
3) Willow Rosenberg (BtVS)
4) Gabrielle of Poteidaia (Xena)
5) Lois Lane (either Teri Hatcher or Erica Durance, but TH is preferred)
6) Clark Kent (just Dean Cain)
7) Sawyer (Lost)
8) Piper Halliwell (Charmed)
9) Jadzia Dax (DS9)
10) Jamie Martin (AMC)

Six of them stayed the same, four new faces. Kinda neat.

And I should SO be doing my hair right now for the pumpkin-carving extravaganza.

Meme, swiped shamelessly from [livejournal.com profile] moireach.

If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

I have 114 interests. Lucky you! ;)

Because 12 explanations of interests may bore you to tears. Or beyond. )

That's a depressing note to end on.

And in other news, WHY AM I AWAKE?! I wonder if I have time to go to Jean Coutu to get conditioner before Harry Potter is delivered. I am in dire need of conditioner before JB's birthday celebration tonight, and yet I am paralyzed by the fear that I will miss the delivery.
