So, remember that Sociology of the Media paper I talked about way back in mid-November?

Working on that right now, actually. Due tomorrow. Well, really, it was due back in November, but I got an incomplete what with all the family stuff going on back then and have basically ignored it until today.

Tonight, really, if I'm going to be honest.

I think it's a bad sign when you open up your paper and go "huh. I think I was smarter two months ago than I am now."

So this to finish and AND AND... a midterm in Socialization tomorrow. Thankfully, it's all multiple choice and true/false and most of it seems to be stuff I've studied before in more depth in other classes.

hahaha, I hate school. :P

This weekend... possibly going up north to ski. Unsure if my workload will allow me to do so yet, even if this coming week is spring break. (Er, reading week. I call it Spring Break, dammit! I don't care if it's not spring!)

Randomly... I did not have a valentine, but I shaved my legs anyways. So there.

And finally... no spoilers in this entry (comments might be another story)... but Lost continues to blow my mind. I think I spent the majority of tonight's episode going "wait, wait, WHAT?!?!"

So I called the bus information line. Despite pressing 8 for English, I was greeted by a French woman.

Here's basically what was said.

"Hey. I called for the schedule for my bus stop and was told that some of the stops on that line have been displaced. So is there service at my particular stop?"

"Were you given a schedule at all?"

"Then there is service at that stop."

"Oh. Really?"

"That's great!"

"Is there anything else I can do?"

"Are you SURE I have service at my stop?"

"Okay, thanks. Have a great day!"

"You too."

... I walk out of my apartment and there is a sign on the bus stop. "SERVICE ONE BLOCK NORTH."

... okay. So I walk over to that stop. Bear in mind that the bus is due momentarily.

I arrive at the stop one block north...

... to find ANOTHER sign on the bus stop THERE saying "SERVICE TWO BLOCKS NORTH."

And look, look, two blocks north, THERE IS MY BUS HANGING A LEFT.

Son of a bitch.

So I walked a kilometer and a half, IN THE SNOW, through and over the NON-PLOWED sidewalks, to finally get to the metro (subway) and got to school just 10 minutes later than I would if I'd caught the bus outside my apartment anyways.

Sons of bitches are going to get a fucking earful from me, let me tell you.

Then... the Italian exam. Challenging. Not horrific. I think I did okay. Probably the usual for me in Italian, which is B- range. (stupid modern language department has a different scale. It'd be a B+ anywhere else!)

Went for a deliciously greasy meal of hot dogs and fries at La Belle Province and then came to the coffee shop to study for a little bit while having hot chocolate.

I shall be done done done done in just over 4 hours at the latest.

I am SO looking forward to the relief of it all.

In under 12 hours, my semester will be, more or less, over. I still have a paper to do, but I'm filing for an incomplete because there is no way I'll get it done anytime soon.

2pm to 5pm - Italian exam
7pm to 10pm - Law and Society exam

I'm leaving here in two hours to get to school early to file for the incomplete, and, annoyingly, I may have to take a cab because of the metric assload of snow we've gotten. And I'm bringing my computer and like, all my books with me, so I can cram more Law and Society into my head between my exams.

With any luck, this is the second to last finals session of my academic career. Theoretically, I should be done with my BA this coming April. Yeah, I'm freaked out. :P

Anyways, currently listening to RAI Radio Uno, trying to get me into the Italian frame of mind. I KNOW all the stuff on the exam. I know I do. I've learned it before, a lot of it was review... so I should be able to do this. It's just a matter of relaxing and letting my mind dig down into the subconscous and haul out the proper grammar, spelling, conjugations.

So that's today.

Tomorrow, brunch at noon with JB, AR and AV, followed by CB's swearing in at the Quebec Bar Association at 5, down at the courthouse.

Thursday... sleep? :P

I've had four hours of sleep. I do love being fatigued. :P

Clearly, I'm also cranky as hell. Sigh.

Buon giorno a tutto.

Okay, enough. I'm Italianed out.

I'm done and I think it went WELL.

I would say that it is the BEST Italian exam I have written. I might have gotten close to an 80. I probably got 70/90 in the grammar, 15/20 for the composition, and maybe 10/20 for the reading comprehension. Depending on a variety of factors, I'll wind up with a 74-80 or so. I would be shocked to get lower than a 70.

This still means a C/C+/B- (at the very most, I think) in the class, but you know what? I'm done with it, and I can speak it okay and I can understand it okay and that's all I need.

I think if I got a 75 on the exam, I'll get around a C+. If I got an 82 or higher on the exam, I get a B-, roughly. Which, OMG, I so do not deserve, but I would love my life if I got a B- in Italian instead of a C or a C+.

Hi, I've had like, 2.5 hours of sleep. I'll shut up now.

Left to do: 1 final project for my 410 (stats) class. Due Monday. With any luck, I'll get the majority of it done later tonight and tomorrow so I can RELAX and be on holiday for a couple weeks. I haven't had a break longer than a week since Christmas of 2004. I am so very burnt out. However, my TOTAL ASSKICKING of this Italian exam (well, comparitively) has made me very happy and has somewhat energized me. W00T.

Okay, parlarvi più tarde!

Well, that settles that. I am not going into research because I HATE, LOATHE, DESPISE AND ABHOR STATISTICS beyond a certain level.

The exam sucked, but even if she doesn't curve it (but she should. That was hard.), I'll do okay in the class, because it's only worth 20%. I've got a B+ going in, so even if I tanked on it, I'm still going to ace my final project, which is worth 25%. I should keep the B+, and, if I did stupidly awesomely well on my assignment and my project, I may have a shot at an A-.

I'll take a B and run, though.

Going to now make dinner, watch stupid Smallville and go to bed, because tomorrow is ALL ITALIAN ALL THE TIME AND THAT INCLUDES LJ ENTRIES. Have babelfish on standby. ;)

(I am a firm believer in the immersion = helpful theory.)

Anthro exam went okay. I really wish I'd had a couple more days, but the cool thing about 200-level sociology classes (even though I took it as an anthro, it was taught as a soci) is that it's all stuff that's explaining everyday things. Putting names to concepts you know and are familiar with. Like "social distance" means that you're okay with another race/culture in one setting (like work) but wouldn't be okay with them in another setting (like sharing a neighbourhood or being in-laws, etc). And stuff like that.

Hung out with people I'd met in the class both before and after, and also ran into I from Stats II from last year, so that was fun. We caught up. We were in the same class, just different sections of the class, so we had the same exam.

I dozed on the bus on the way home (as I am prone to doing) and for the first time ever on this specific bus route, I missed my stop. Just by one, though, so it wasn't like it was all that awful. I chalk it up to the fact I had less than four hours of sleep last night.

Gonna nap now 'till 3, then study/finish my assignment, leave here around 5:30 and meet up with B at 6 before the exam at 7.

Mmmmmmmmm. Naaaaaaaaap. If only there was a way to nap in a little spot of sunshine like my dog does...

Off to do exam #1 of the day in just a few minutes. At least I'm getting a lift to school from the parents.

I hope I don't actually fall asleep in the middle of the exam. I think that would be bad.

Send me good vibes from 9-12 ET and then again from 7-10 ET, please. :)

Also, those of you who have yet to see the Microsoft commercial with Gates McFadden...

Internet + YouTube = Awesomeness. I think that I shall never stop being in awe of all the junk that's online. Everything from a present-day Microsoft commercial to ... gosh, Eric Conveys an Emotion to stuff on multiple regression.

Very nifty, this whole Internetty thing, eh?

Okay, must get dressed and go.
